What did they do,

To make stone of you?

You were joyous,

Full of hope,

And now you are broken,

Turned to dust, destroyed.

I know their tongues of gold,

But I did what I could with a tongue of silver.

You went for the riches, the glory,

As I wept and went for the funeral.

Now you lie there cold and hard,

Without the smile, the laugh that I knew.

Lips that once held the power to entrance me,

Now lie frozen, fixed forever.

Death robbed you of beauty,

And robbed me of you.

We thought we had forever,

But we had only too short a date.

You left with Autumn,

I'm left with winter.

Your photos forever shall remain

My lasting tribute to you.

Death conquers all in the end,

Though you shall be last on my lips,

Last on my mind, and the last I shall see.

As the shot rings through the night,

I lay such as you. together at last.

I welcome the coldness,

The darkness that envelops.
